Holy cow!

Sheesh, I haven’t updated since September?  I knew it had been a while, but this is just excessive.

So, I had a baby and she’s six months old and beautiful.  She has her own blog.  Ask me for the link if you want it.

I’ve hardly had any time to play games for the last six months.  I just reinstalled Diablo 2 this last week once they announced Diablo 3 was coming out.  I finally managed to get some time to install the expansion for NWN2 as well, but then decided to finish the main campaign first, since I’m so close and someone totally lied about the expansion not following after the main campaign.  It totally does!

I’m also waiting eagerly for Fallout 3 and Spore.  I’ll link to my Spore page later if I can figure out how to do it.

I’m also also re-reading some classics from my tween years right now: I’m about halfway through “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” and “The Grey King” (Susan Cooper’s Dark is Rising series).

Oh, yeah, and I took up knitting.

More comprehensive updates will hopefully come later, as I think I’m turning the corner on being able to find the time to type up a thing or two.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

So, I’ve made the switch over to WordPress, more or less. I have mirror blogs (in theory) at Blogspot and at Livejournal, though only the Blogspot one has posts. Once I figure out cross-posting, they’ll all be about the same.

I’ve found a look that I like, though I haven’t done any customizing yet. That’s still to come.

Oh! I was real surprised that there’s an import from Blogger option, so all my posts from the last year have already been moved over, with comments and everything. Though it took two tries to completely succeed, it was amazingly easy.

Blogging the Flooded City

I’m sure we’re all watching the news in New Orleans. For many of us, it’s hard to conceive of something as enduring as that city being devastated to the extent it is. One thing I found interesting, amongst all my news hunting, was this blog. His world has altered (along with others there) and yet he keeps blogging, keeps working, keeps going. It’s an interesting read, seeing things from the perspective of someone that’s in the midst of things.

A couple of other things I’ve found interesting are how people are using Craigslist and other such sites to offer shelter and other assistance, and to find missing loved ones. You keep hearing on the news about how awful things are, but these offers of assistance remind you how good some people can be.

Tweaks

My main reason for moving to Blogger was ease of use. I’m not great at design, though I can handle HTML and CSS coding adequately, and so here I am with Blogger, with ready made templates. They add new features, and I don’t have to reinstall — just republish. It’s simple, and perfect for my recent site building laziness.

And yet, being me, I can’t just let things be. I have to tweak and fiddle and play until I’ve got things just as I like them. So, I spent a large chunk of my little bit of free time today: adding a Technorati search box, figuring out how to use Technorati tags, putting Technorati tags on all my posts (Thankfully there’s only ten so far.), and putting a Furl link list in my links section.

Oh! I also put my Xfire profile info at the bottom, mostly because it’ll be fun to see what games I’m spending the most time on.

I can’t imagine I’m done tweaking, but we’ll see.

Comment Coolness

So when did Blogger add in captcha for comment posting? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there earlier in the week when I switched comments to Registered Users only, but maybe I’ve just been missing it? Either way, it’s awful cool. I turned it on. Combat spam begone!
