Frustration and Other Achievements

If there was an achievement for being frustrated and road blocked by game bugs, I think I’d have earned it. Outlands seems particularly finicky in the number of quests needed for completing Loremaster. With only Netherstorm left to go, I have four zones for which I have still not completed the Loremaster related achievements.
The first of these I ran into was Nagrand, where I still need five more quests. After reading a bit on various forums and sites, it looked like I could probably wrap it up by doing the quests for Altruis the Sufferer, which require that you first complete the Netherwing intro series of quests. I did that (with some wonderful help from Tizy on the last tough quest) and happily ran off to Nagrand. Sadly, this is where I got stuck again.
There is a quest called “Against the Legion” that requires you to kill a demon at Forge Base: Gehenna, and then use its blood right there to summon something else. Apparently if I’d have been in a little more of a hurry, I’d have been able to finish this. Patch 3.3 introduced a dungeon called the Forge of Souls. Since this patch, when you try to use the blood, it says that the Forge of Souls is required. Obviously, Forge Base: Gehenna is what should be required.
After discovering this, reporting it, and getting told it would be fixed eventually but there was no ETA, I decided to continue. After all, this would be only one zone I couldn’t complete. I’d just leave it and come back to it later.
And then, while doing my regular questing in Netherstorm, I ran into another quest, “Teleport This!,” with the same problem. Again, the quest required using an item (a provided Mental Interference Rod) in Forge Base: Gehenna, and again, using the item resulted in an error that it required the Forge of Souls.
Between this and most of the other quests I had left requiring some help from friends, my frustration level tipped over the top and I decided I’d had enough of Outlands.
And so, I am happily questing in Northrend now, thinking about just pushing for 80 so I can both make money more quickly and get my epic flight skill and so that I can spend some time on dailies.
I managed to complete these achievements in the last month:
- Explore Howling Fjord
- The Northrend Gourmet
- Friend or Fowl?
- 200 Daily Quests Completed
- Explore Crystalsong Forest (Druid reached 80, bought the flight book.)
- Higher Learning (Yay for another pet!)
- 2000 Quests Completed (Only another 1000 until I earn my title!)
- Critter Gitter
- Cooking With Style (Chef’s Hat!)
- 100 Dalaran Cooking Awards
- About half of the Winter Veil achievements.
