Nine Muses

This past weekend, I finally made it to level 70, and so I started in on the fishing daily quests and the Shattrath cooking daily quests.  (Can someone explain to me why the Dalaran cooking daily is level 65, but the other profession dailies are all 70?)

In doing these dailies, I have come to realize that I have some extraordinary luck in the random rewards that they provide.  To wit: I received the Captain Rumsey’s Lager recipe from my second Dalaran cooking daily quest.  I received the Delicious Chocolate Cake recipe from my fifth or so Dalaran cooking daily.  I received the Weather-Beaten Journal (for the fish finding skill) from my first fishing Daily quest ever.  These are supposed to be, at best, a two percent drop rate.  (The cake is actually estimated at more like .6%.)

Of course, that luck didn’t extend to pet farming.  I made a few more rounds in the Wailing Caverns but still have no Deviate Hatchling to show for it.

Concentrating on my fishing skill after I reached level 70 seems to have worked better than expected.  Though my actual skill is barely over 250, I am closer to 350 with lures.  I nabbed the fish I needed for the Shattrath daily within three casts, and I was worried that my lower skill was going to make that unbearably difficult.  Fortunately, it did not.

I also finally saw the cheese daily come up in Dalaran (Cheese for Glowergold) and so I completed the “Our Daily Bread” achievement.  I’ve got to get that Chef title!

The achievements I completed this weekend, mostly small, were:

• Artisan Fisherman
• 25 Dalaran Cooking Awards
• Captain Rumsey’s Lager (I’d had the recipe.  I just hadn’t made any.)
• Level 70
• It’s Happy Hour Somewhere (while fishing, drinking the above mentioned lager – how appropriate.)
• 500 Fish
• Got My Mind On My Money
• Professional Grand Master (Picked up Grandmaster Skinning finally.)
• Our Daily Bread
• Fish Don’t Leave Footprints
